Q and A
Have a wish
DivXG400 was first brought to live to work around incompatibility with DivX ;-), MS MPEG4, WM7, WM8 codecs and Matrox G400/G450 drivers/hardware. If image width of the clips is not exact multiple of 32 (like 720x???), clip may be played back without using video overlay. Without video overlay, clips are looking choppy and DVDMax can not be used.
In a time DivXG400 has evolved to something much more, providing several features, all designed for better movie-experience, like:
DivXG400 is codec-independent and should work within all players that use automatic DirectShow Filter Graph generation (Windows Media Player, MicroDVD Player, Zoom Player etc.). Also, video codec must support YUY2 output format.
DivXG400 is not limited to Matrox cards, it can be used with any graphics card. Couple of options have meaning for Matrox users only, though.
Q: Does DivXG400 affect image quality?
A: No. DivXG400 doesn't make image better or worse.
But be aware that if image width gets larger than 720 pixels, Matrox cards produce worse
TV-output. It's not a problem of DivXG400, because same problem shows playing back wide
clips without DivXG400.
Q: Does DivXG400 affect playback performance?
A: It does. DivXG400 may save up to half of CPU load during non-32 divisible clip playback!
DivXG400 itself is highly optimized and its own used CPU time for image processing should be unnoticable on modern computers.
Q: How can I change DivXG400 options in Windows Media Player 7/8/9?
A: Newer WMPs do not support filter adjustment. You can adjust DivXG400 by executing Start/Programs/PRR
Video Utilities/Configure DivXG400 or by clicking on DivXG400 SysTray icon.
Note. Be aware that WMP6.4 is most likely present on Your system. It is
typically named C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe.
Q: I installed DivXG400, but non 32-divisible clips are still not outputted to
TV. 32-divisible clips work fine.
A: Is DivXG400 listed in Media Player filters list (In case of Media Player 6.4
Files/Properties/Advanced)?
If no:
If DivXG400 is listed, try to switch down to 1024x768@32bpp or 1024x768@16bpp.
If problem remains, please report a bug.
Q: I played with DivXG400 options and now DivXG400 is not used (= listed in
filter list) anymore.
A: Restore original configuration by executing Start/Programs/PRR Video
Utilities/Configure DivXG400.
Q: What is recommended system for DivXG400?
A: In order of importance:
DirectX 7 or 8, 32 or 16bpp color depth, Windows Media Player 6.4, Windows 2000/XP.
Q: Where can I download DivXG400 source code?
A: DivXG400 source code is not available for download.
